Up for sale, a 2009 Burny RLC-85 LP Custom in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag and hangtags. Crafted in Japan under the umbrella of the Fernandez company, Burny has long been lauded for producing some of the most impressive "lawsuit era" Customs on the market. This uncommon modern iteration was the top-of-the-line Custom in 2009, produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market. The “85” refers to the original cost of the instrument (85,000 yen). Faithful to a '50s Gibson Custom, the body is constructed of solid mahogany without a maple cap, and the mahogany neck is capped with a bound rosewood fretboard. At 9 lbs 10oz, this guitar dishes out plenty of sonic authority, warmth and natural acoustic resonance faithfully captured by the pair of humbuckers. The pickups are wound slightly hotter than a PAF, metering at 8.2k ohms and delivering a warm, punchy tone that has tight low end, sweet treble growl and balanced midrange. This Burny has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The mahogany neck has a chunky '50s-style C-shaped profile carve, measuring .880” deep at the 1st fret and .945” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard has a 12” radius, pearloid block inlay, and flawless medium jumbo frets. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4” scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16” in width, and the headstock is framed by multi-ply binding and features a Burny logo and ornate inlay. The Fernandes-branded gold tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, and the back of the headstock retains the “Made in Japan” text. On the body, all the electronics work as intended, with the stock humbuckers wired to an upgraded harness with USA-made CTS pots and Sprague Orange Drop tone caps. Plastics comprise the original quartet of black bonnet knobs and the four-ply pickguard, which displays some requisite scuffing along the pick path. The gold hardware complement includes the ABR-1-style bridge and corresponding tailpiece. The gloss Black finish is framed by multi-ply binding, and cosmetic wear is limited to a small scuff on the perimeter adjacent to the input jack and a scant few scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is equally clean and smooth. The original Fernandes-branded padded gigbag is included, along with the original hangtags.
