BAIRSTOW MANOR POTTERY CHARACTER JUG

Up for sale I have this wonderful 'John Wayne' Character jug from Bairstow Manor Pottery in Staffordshire. This jug was intended to be issued in a limited edition of no more than 500 but far fewer than that have been made.

The large, heavy character jug is just over 8 inches/20cm high and weighs nearly 1.3kg. It is brand new.

All Manor Pottery jugs are hand made and painted and so minor surface marks, pimples and dimples are not unusual. I examine each one and mention any of these minor points. On this one there is nothing worse than some of the usual pimples, dimples, bubbles and paint marks in the finish. The small mark in the finish near the base is where the paint hasn't covered, not a chip (see photos). The small top join to the handle can be a weak spot on these but this is fine but has a slightly sharp edge at the join (see photos).

A wonderful, very rare jug to add to any collection.
