Battery Replacement In DSC WT4911 Siren
The WT4911 contains a battery that includes a feature called “ passivation”. This feature
preserves the shelf life of the battery when it is not being used. Every WT4911 will need to be
“depassivated” before using the outdoor siren for the first time and when a new battery is
required.
If depassivated step is missed it will show as flat battery.
NOTE =Follow the steps below when replacing a battery.
Battery will flatten quickly if not followed.
* Please read this completely before commencing.
1/Remove cover from siren, 2 screws at the bottom.
2/ Take note of battery polarity, before removing old battery.
3/Insert new battery into holder, depress tamper switch and hold down, insert battery plug into
circuit board, continue to hold down tamper switch for 10 seconds, then release . (Do not
replace the siren cover during “depassivation”). The siren will flash the LED’s indicating
‘depassivation” is in progress. NOTE = This can take up to 30 minutes to complete.
4/ If “depassivation is complete the LED’s will stop flashing and the siren will give 3 beeps at 5 second intervals. After 30 minutes the siren stops trying to “depassivate” the battery and will give a single “beep” at 5 second intervals. If this happens, remove battery and start the
“depassivation” sequence again.
5/ Create a tamper by depressing and releasing the tamper switch, this should trigger an
audible alarm in the control panel and the siren. Replace cover on siren and cancel the alarm.
If battery is not properly depassivated it can not be replaced as faulty as it would be not caused by the battery it'self but by incorrect installation.
