Bread Poppy - 0.25g (Average 500 Seeds)

Also known as Papaver Maanzaad, Dutch for ‘bread seed’. This popular variety makes a delicious extra to curries, salads and of course bread.

Also known as Florist Poppies, plants produce incredibly showy, large single poppies. Flowers are followed by highly ornamental seed pods prized for floral arrangements. Pods are chock-full of tiny blue-gray, brown or white seeds which are used in bread making and baking. Easy-to-grow plants reach 2 to 3 ft. tall.

These poppies do best with a cold start.  Plant the seeds as early in the spring as the soil can be worked. If planting earlier (August to October), cloche protection of seedlings over winter is beneficial. Seeds are small so plant them in a row or broadcast in a bed.  As the plants sprout, thin them to 6 to 8 inches apart. The plants will appreciate full sun and moisture retentive rich soil. Flowers from June to September.
