Bottom of Ship has a clipping that states:
H.M.S. "Endeavour Bark"
Built at Whitby and launched as the "Earl of Pembroke" in 1764, this sturdy vessel was bought by the Admiralty in 1768 and renamed "Endeavour Bark".
She was used by Captain James Cook in his first great voyage of discovery to the South Seas, New Zealand and Australia between 1768 and 1771.
