Rare opportunity to buy original set of 1978 Fender pickups, scratchplate, pots and control knobs.

Perfect if you are restoring a period instrument or improving a modern replica.

I have owned these from new, they are all from the same guitar a 1978 Fender CBS era strat. S/No. S892132 ( As pictured on the inside of the scratchplate S for 70s, 8 for the year, and then 5 digit number)

Everything works as it should.

In the early 80s I fitted these pickups and scratchplate to a 60s style Tokai Strat and then sold the CBS strat. At this time I also fitted a 5 way switch, which I will include in the sale. It is a genuine USA Fender part.

Unfortunately the original 3 way switch is long gone, however the 2 correct flat head mounting screws are intact.

The pickups are really excellent sounding with flat pole pieces and the original Pu covers.

They are a matched set as you can see from the serial numbers on the grey backs of the pickups in the photo. Very musical sounding, typical Sultans of Swing tone. All wires good and original.

The eagle eyed enthusiast amongst you will have noticed these original pots are wired master volume, master tone a la Rory Gallagher, the third pot is left unwired. This always seemed to make more sense. It's very easy to rewire to the original spec if you prefer.

I have noticed these pickups have been sold without scratchplate etc or covers for up to £900 per set. I am now retired and no longer use these, so it's time for someone else to enjoy them.
