This offering includes a DeGrazia porcelain figurine made by Goebel.  Ettore "Ted" DeGrazia (June 14, 1909 – September 17, 1982) was a multi-talented American-born artist whose Native American-themed paintings and ceramics are beloved around the world. Born in Arizona (when it was still just a territory), DeGrazia was influenced by the landscape and the native people in the Southwest. He traveled to Mexico and trained for a time under Diego Rivera, another important artist of that time. In the 1960s, DeGrazia moved to a property outside of Tuscon where he could focus on his ceramic art. "The Gallery in the Sun" is still in operation today and showcases the artist's prolific and diverse body of work.

The figurines in our store are from the DeGrazia Goebel collection, resulting from the artist's partnership with the famous German maker of Hummel figurines. DeGrazia discovered that painting angels and native children were a subject that people fell in love with. This is where DeGrazia found his success. Today, the Gallery in the Sun’s permanent collection holds more than 15,000 of DeGrazia’s original works of art.

This offering is for "Navajo Boy", showing a boy wearing a bright Red Poncho and a tall hat (check out the Turquoise on his belt and hat band!).
