These vintage Picture Post magazines are a wonderful resource of news and contemporary thought - giving insight to the news, politics and current affairs of the world. There are articles and lots of pictures, and these 1940s issues are particularly interesting! And the advertisements are great, too.

In this issue:
  • Cover: Cinderella
  • The Truth About G.I. Town by Edward Shackleton – Burtonwood Air Base, Lancashire
  • Holiday in Positano – photos by Paul M Pietszch
  • Shanghai Waits
  • A Church That Can’t Be Used – St Francisco de Pampulha, Miras Gerais, Brazil – Church of Saint Francis of Assisi
  • A Heart in the Highlands – Brigadoon
  • Oysters Grown on Trees
  • The Snake Pit: Can it do more harm than good? – Anatole Litvak
  • Dog Snoop
  • The University Woman in a 100 Years Old by Marjorie Beckett – Bedford College, London University
  • Is This How Britain is Thinking? – Public Opinion Survey

The magazine is large format, measuring appoximately 34cm by 26cm, with 40 pages

Condition: The magazine is in good vintage condition, showing reading wear and some creasing to the covers, plus the staples have rusted, making the pages loose and some staining damage around the staples, there is a newsagents delivery name written on the front cover - visible in the pictures below. Given that the magazine is over 70 years old, its condition is pretty good, but certainly not perfect! The magazine pictured below is the one you will receive.

I accept returns, and if you’d like any further information, just ask!
