I’m very excited to offer this awesome, restored early electric filigree hall pendant!

This pendant, from thereabouts around 1900 (+ or - a few years), is in great vintage condition with a nice mottled patina that brass can only acquire through decades of oxidation. I have not polished the metal in an effort to preserve the lovely original color, but I did give it a thorough cleaning. There are some surface blemishes and irregularities, but this can be expected from any fixture from this era.

The original and unusual fitter-less is simply incredible! Even the profile of the shade itself is distinctive. It is amazing lit or unlit, and really “makes” the whole fixture. The frosted interior of the shade produces a lovely ambient glow when lit.

This fixture is designed in a unique way, such that one has to do a fair bit of disassembly to access the socket to change the bulb. This is done by unscrewing the filigree crown which holds the shade in place. Once removed, only then can the bulb be changed.

The socket is original to the fixture, and has a nice, satisfying click when turned. It is a Thomson-Houston base socket with an original early Edison screw base adaptor. These are rare, and an interesting piece of electrical technology. With the adaptor, this fixture accepts a standard size household light bulb. A 60 watt incandescent or LED equivalent is recommended. The wiring is all new.

The scale of the fixture makes it ideal for a vestibule, foyer, or hallway application. It measures 17 inches long and is about 6.5 inches at its widest point, the filigree shade holder/crown.

The ceiling canopy measures 3 and 7/8 inches in diameter and may not quite fully cover all types of modern electrical boxes, though there are modern boxes out there that would be compatible with this size canopy. A medallion or adaptor may be needed, depending on the circumstances of your intended installation. All the necessary mounting hardware is included in the sale. A light bulb is not.
