Roman Imperatorial Denarius Sextus Pompey

Roman Imperatorial denarius Sextus Pompey, struck at Sicily 42-40 BC. Very Fine in terms of wear although a somewhat weak and off centre strike with a graffito scratched into the reverse. Still an attractive coin with a delicate tone. Rare.

Obverse: Bare head of Pompey the Great right between lituus and capis. MAG PIVS IMP ITER
Reverse: Neptune left, foot on prow, between brothers Anapias and Amphinomus, parents on their shoulders, PR’F above, in ex CLAS ET OR
