BACK IN 1976, MOS TECHNOLOGY produced a single-board computer - the KIM-1 - to introduce their new 6502 microprocessor to engineers and computer hobbyists. It was a great success, and the 6502 went on to power many of the best-known machines of the early Home Computer revolution - famous names like Apple, Commodore, Atari and BBC Micro - not to mention the wildly popular Atari 2600 and Nintendo NES video game consoles.

KIM UNO IS A MOS KIM-1 hardware emulation powered by an Atmega 328P microcontroller onboard an Arduino Pro Mini. The latest  firmware also adds Apple I and COSMAC Elf support. Installed vintage software includes MicroChess, Wozmon a 6502 Programmable Calculator and more. And thanks to KIM Uno's Open-Source model, you're free to add or remove software or customize firmware as you see fit!

FULL KIT INFORMATION including User guide, construction manual, schematic, firmwares, BOM (Bill of Materials), etc. can be found on the project pages at: https://obsolescence.wixsite.com/obsolescence/kim-uno-summary-c1uuh - On the left, click the "KIM Uno - Details" bar, then scroll down to the bottom of the new page. Here you will find project-related downloads.

KIT INCLUDES ALL REQUIRED PARTS AS SHOWN IN THE SECOND PHOTO. THE ARDUINO PRO MINI BOARD IS SUPPLIED PRE-PROGRAMMED WITH THE LATEST FIRMWARE! PHOTOS OF COMPLETED DEVICE ARE FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. 3D PRINTED CASE NOT INCLUDED, SOURCE FILES ARE FREELY AVAILABLE.

THIS LISTING IS FOR A DIY KIT  REQUIRING GOOD SOLDERING SKILLS AND SOME BASIC ELECTRONICS KNOWLEDGE - SKILL LEVEL IS SUITABLE FOR MOST NOVICES. I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU READ THE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS - ORDER OF ASSEMBLY IS CRITICAL.

A couple of Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: This thing rocks. Did you create the KIM Uno?

A: No! As much as I'd like to be able to take credit, the Uno was created & developed by Oscar Vermeulen, a vintage computer enthuiast residing in Switzerland. Oscar has also created functional "mini" replicas of the DEC PDP-8 and PDP-11 machines, which are available from his website - I highly recommend them, they are quite excellent!

Q: Is that your neat-o website? Did you write the content?

A: The "obsolesence" site was again built by Oscar, and he is 100% responsible for the content. I only link to it as an aid to my customers..
