A stunning Victorian era Emile Blaesius brass wall mirror and sconce with head of Bacchus on the top. Detailed design and etching. Beveled mirror. Arched shape. Retrofitted in the 1930s or 1940s for electric lighted candles, including Leviton Bakelite light switch. Etched on the back by hand E. Blaesius. No. 28 (or 23?). Most likely made between the 1880s and 1900-1910.

Measures 16.5” H x 9.5” W x 6.5” D.

In good condition. No chips or cracks in the mirror. Some light antique patina to the mirror. Brass is bright. Sconces appear to have intentionally different and slightly asymmetrical heights. Backs of candle cups have been drilled cleanly to add wires. Electric retrofit has NOT been tested and I do not recommend using the wiring as it is currently set up. Some cracks on the middle “candle” (this candlestick is also a bit loose) and a bend in the middle of the right “candle.” See images for details.
