Dec-24-63.  U.K. TV documentary.  Awesome Cavern Cub performances by Faron's Flamingos, 15-year old Chick Graham (backed by the Coasters; Billy J. Kramer's original backing group), and Rory Storm and the Hurricanes.  Wow!  Plus, the Chants, Earl Preston & the TTs and Gerry and  the Pacemakers.  Fantastic documentary about Liverpool's toughness, vitality, an its terrific beat music.  Cool beatnik scenes inside the Blue Angel  and Jacaranda clubs.  Also, a Skiffle band! Crazed female fans carve their idol's names in their arms!

Dec-21-63.  U.K. TV show.  Brian Matthews comperes this fantastic second Mersey Beat edition of this British music show! Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas: "I'll Keep You Satisfied".  Cilla Black: "Love Of The Loved".  Tommy Quickly: "Kiss Me Now".  Gerry & The Pacemakers: "You'll Never Walk Alone", "I Like It".  The Searchers: "Sugar and Spice".  The Breakways: "That Boy Of Mine".  The Beatles: "All My Loving", "Twist And Shout", "She Loves You", "I Want To Hold Your Hand".  The Spin-A-Disc segment panel includes Ursula Higgins, Janice Nicholls (Oil give it foive!), the Cavern Club's Bob Wooler as guest D.J. and Billy Butler (current Radio Merseyside DJ) as mop top Liverpudian! The show closes with George Martin presenting two gold discs for "She Loves You" and "I Wanna Hold Your Hand".

The Mersey Sound (1963)
Oct-9-1963.  U.K. documentary on the early 60s Liverpool and Mersey beat scene.  Great interviews with club owners and bands.  Hear about the Liverpool  "protection rackets" and the toughs who come around the clubs "swinging bicycle chains to spoil everyone's pleasure!".  Terrific footage inide Liverpool's Iron Door club (rival to the Cavern Club) with The Undertakers and Group One performing.  Performances and extended interviews with The Beatles.
