These vintage Picture Post magazines are a wonderful resource of news and contemporary thought - giving insight to the news, politics and current affairs of the world. There are articles and lots of pictures, and these early 1940s issues are particularly interesting! And the advertisements are great, too.

In this issue:
  • Cover: General Smuts
  • Britain needs more ships
  • New York by Night
  • Cattle Sale
  • Gandhi Makes a Journey
  • Fencing for Beauty - New York Salle d’Armes - Tibor Nyilou
  • Eel’s Foot, Eastbridge, Suffolk - Folk Singing
  • The Axis puts out some first class propaganda
  • Jan Christian Smuts, South Africa
  • The Films provide a Pantomime - The Thief of Bagdad
  • Should we abolish profits? by Douglas Jay
  • Diary of the War: No 66 - 64th Week - Italy’s Retreat

The magazine is large format, measuring appoximately 34cm by 26cm, with 44 pages

Condition: The magazine is in good vintage condition, showing reading wear and some creasing to the covers, plus the staples have rusted, making the pages loose and some staining damage around the staples - visible in the pictures below. Given that the magazine is over 80 years old, its condition is pretty good, but certainly not perfect! The magazine pictured below is the one you will receive.

I accept returns, and if you’d like any further information, just ask!
