QUEBEC (Maybe Minnesota) 1887 Ice Carnival Palace Leroux 1158 Charlton, EQCC-141 15mm silver plated medal holed for suspension. Much of the plating has been worn off, but it is the first of these that I have seen silver plated.

There is no mention of Quebec, Montreal or who the maker is and it has been suggested that this was purposely a generic piece used in both Montreal, QC and St Paul MN. There were other connections between the winter carnivals of these two cities. Montreal architect, Alexander Cowper Hutchison was the architect for the Montreal 1883, 84, 85 & 87 ice palaces, as well as the architect for the 1886 St Paul ice palace. The postcards do not come with the medal.
