Unsolved - # 30 – Lynn Siddons – Killer On The Loose.

One spring Sunday in 1978 three boys, out for a walk with their dog, came upon the body of a teenage girl.

She had suffered more than thirty stab wounds, and had been strangled. Her friend from down the road, fifteen-year-old Roy Brookes, confessed to her murder after lengthy interrogation.

But while he was on remand, a sensitive psychiatrist managed to break down his apathy and withdrawal, and the boy gave an astonishing statement, completely reversing his earlier confession.

It was his stepfather, he alleged, who had murdered the girl, and who had forced him to confess to the crime by threats to his mother.

The jury believed him, and he was acquitted. To this day, no further charges have been made, and the police file on the case remains open.
