This is a very rare Mid-Century silver on porcelain pin dish by one of the pioneers of the medium, Manfred Veyhl who was active from 1930 to 1950 in Pluderhausen Germany. Using blanks from various porcelain manufactures, Veyhl redecorated the pieces with different colors and carefully crafted silver overlays. This piece utilizes a rounded triangle pin dish by C.T. Hutschenreuther, Arzberg Bavaria (the green mark) from the period 1945 to 1949. Veyhl added a pretty mottled yellow background plus stylized flowers in pink and silver with a silver rim. His added mark on the back, in red, is a large letter S with M and P (Silber Manufactur Pluderhausen), his name VEYHL and curving beneath "SILBERPORZELLEN". (Similar marks on other pieces also have the anniversary dates 1930-1950 added so this piece appears to date between 1945-1949 in keeping with the Hutschenreuther blank.) There is also a number inked in red which appears to be 16. The diameter is about 4". It is hard to place a value on this piece, sales records are almost non-existent.
