A collection of professionally shot photographs gifted to Francis Edgar Cheatle in 1945 after being stationed in Switzerland as a Colonel under American Legation in the Airforce during World War II. The first page is a dedication to Cheatle's service and states, "As a souvenir of the days you spent at Dubendorf, I take pleasure in handing you an album of photos". The photographs are from Dübendorf Air Base in Zurich with photos of different mountains including Scheerhorn, Grosshorn, Finsteraarhorn, and Matterhorn. Most of the pictures are aerial photographs taken above the mountains. Dübendorf Air Base was used in World War II as an internment camp for any foreign military aircraft. Various styles of aircrafts and jets are seen in this photo album including a Boeing B-17, Die waffen, Liberator B-24, and more. There are also pictures of submarines lined up together to see the underside and front portions of the ships. The photographs are well shot, and in most of them inside of the cockpits of the jets can be seen. On one page there are four portrait photographs of colonels and majors including Oberst Burkhand, Major Gerber, Oberst Hogger, and Oblt. Heitmanek.

An aesthetically pleasing photo album of professionally shot photographs from Zurich, Switzerland to an American Colonel in 1945.
