Wood has many advantages that cannot be discarded. One is that its high internal loss prevents sharp resonance. The reason why metal is not often used in speaker boxes is because of its ease of resonance. The headshell is also considered to be greatly affected by the resonance of the arm as a whole. The use of a headshell made of wood, which has a large internal loss, can considerably reduce the effect of resonance.
Cherry wood is a fairly hard material native to Hokkaido, and has a specific gravity of about 0.75, which is heavier than other types of wood. It is also used for flooring materials and headphone cases, etc., and has a good reputation for its sound quality.
Since asada cherry wood is not hard enough to be cut by screws, a brass plate is used to hold the cartridge firmly in place. Since the specific gravity of cherry wood is lighter than metal or ebony, the weight is balanced by the combination with this brass plate.
The wood is buffed with a protective coating of eco-friendly paint, which has almost no effect on the human body, to preserve the texture of the wood. You can feel the unique appearance and softness of the wood.
