Hukin & Heath Warmer c1900 Pottery Silver Plate SGDG shevette French Patent.

This is in useable condition . It is profusely stamped with various makers marks . The base is ceramic and was Made in France by shevette . It is in good condition with some minor nibble to the base . The Silver Plated hinged lid was made by Hukin & Heath in England and is stamped as such . There’s wear to the plate , there are no dents or splits .

This is stamped and armed in various places as shown in the photographs .

The underside of the silver plated rim is stamped T9630 H & H with an Eagle and a P .

There are 3 metal arms or stays that hold the rim in place . Two of these are stamped Patent no 2070 - 06 Brevete S.G.D.G. Rd 369982.

I can’t read the pottery marks on the base .

The whole piece oozes quality and is French and dates to circa 1900.

SGDG stands for Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement ( this means , Patent without guarantees ).

I have seen the exact same numbers stamped on an egg cup which was described as a Christopher Dresser design. It is strange they had the same numbers , and whereas this is similar to Dresser designs I can’t firmly attribute this to him .

The piece measures 9.5 inches at its widest and is 3 inches tall.

We don’t really know it’s exact original use , but it was clearly some type of warmer .

It has a hinged lid with a stylised knop .

If anyone has any more detail , please let me know ,

Good Luck
