Profile of Kimiaki Kono, owner of Sangenshi Kikuoka
1983: Trained in Asakusa
1987: Started his own business
He is certified as a traditional craftsman by Katsushika City in 2003.
He was awarded the Tokyo Meister (Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Excellent Technician) in 2014.
Currently, he is focusing on promoting the shamisen culture to the world in order to preserve Japanese traditional techniques and culture.
He is actively involved in the invention and production of authentic DIY shamisen, holding workshops for diplomats from other countries, and teaching how to play the shamisen at elementary schools.
