Graded NM-MT 8 by SGC. Qualities include four extremely sharp corners, good color & image quality, a pack-fresh appearance, untoned borders, and a vibrantly white reverse side. This is the hobby's top-graded example and one of only two NM-MT C55 Smaills (among all major grading services) without a period (dot) after the year "1911" on the reverse side. Based on our survey of all publicly sold examples over the last decade, we would estimate this variation is at least 1.5 times more difficult to find than the variety with the period/dot. It is likely that the omission of the period was corrected sometime early in the print run. Walter Smaill is featured here on his rookie card with the Montreal Wanderers. Smaill was a star left/right winger and defenceman for a variety of teams during his 16 professional seasons. Was also a member of the 1908 Montreal Wanderers' and 1910 Ottawa Senators' Stanley Cup Championship teams.
