1957 NOMURA MECHANIZED ROBBY THE ROBOT First Version w/ Round Knobs WALKS & LIGHTS UP - FORBIDDEN PLANET

The Mechanized Robot (Robby the Robot) is from 1957 and was manufactured by Nomura and made in Japan.

For your consideration is the original first version with round knobs on the battery compartments. The second version had different shaped knobs.

This Battery Operated (2 D-cell batteries) tin robot with plastic hands and a clear plastic dome measures approximately 13" tall and was manufactured to perform the following actions: walking, flashing lights, rotating antenna and pumping memory pistons in his head.

The Mechanized Robby the Robot is 100% original and complete with no rust, dings or broken or missing parts but the drive belt does need to be replaced.

The dome is original with no discoloration or cracks and the battery compartment and contacts are super clean. The robot walks perfectly and it lights up but the pistons do not pump and both antenna do not rotate because they are no longer driven by the motor.

Being this toy is over 60 years old most likely the drive belt has become dry or brittle over time so it is either broken or frozen up so it needs to be replaced to fully function as designed.

I did a little bit of research online and found a company that sells a Nomura Mechanized Robby Replacement Drive Belt for only $7.95.

One site states you only need to remove the vertical rotating antenna (the one on the right) to fit a new belt and another shows a picture of the back off to replace the belt.

I have included pictures of both for your reference so please note I do not have a replacement drive belt and did not open up Robby to examine his insides.

Overall Robby the Robot is in amazing condition still retaining his original high glossy appearance and would make a great addition or upgrade to any collection.

The Mechanized Robby the Robot will ship wrapped in bubble wrap and double boxed to preserve your investment and GUARANTEE it arrives in the same condition as it was sent out in.
