Michel de Montaigne (1533 - 1592) - an outstanding French writer and philosopher. He entered the history of world literature as the author of the famous book “Experiments” (French Les Essais), which is based on his observations of the peculiarities of human worldview. This work had a huge influence on the formation of the essay genre and influenced the development of philosophy of the Late Renaissance and Modern Times. Francis Bacon, Voltaire, Denis Diderot, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Leo Tolstoy and many other thinkers repeatedly referred to Montaigne's work in their works.
