Brake pads are part of the overall fit of the motorcycle to the rider. Change brake pads (Brief instructions / recommendation):
- unscrew the brake caliper
- take out the old pads (remove pin / spring, press out depending on the model)
- Clean the brake caliper completely (e.g. with washing-up liquid and a toothbrush), check for possible wear
- lubricate the pistons with ATE brake cylinder paste (e.g. with 2. Toothbrush)
- push the pistons back completely
- lubricate the edges (sliding surfaces, Not the friction surfaces) and the back of the pads with copper paste
- put the pads back in the way the old pads were in
- Screw the brake caliper back on, functional test
Optional depending on the brake caliper:
- Wear test, if necessary Replacement of pins and springs
- Use of ceramic paste instead of copper paste (special pliers according to manufacturer specification)
Always use fresh brake fluid and keep the brake disc clean.
