Up for sale, a 1995 Epiphone Sheraton II in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This well-crafted, uncommon Epiphone was produced at the Samick factory in Korea. Covering all the tonal bases of your favorite ES-335, the Sheraton features maple semi-hollow construction (hollow wings with a center block for added sustain and reduced feedback) and a five-piece maple/walnut neck. Unplugged, the sound is warm and resonant, and the stock humbuckers deliver plenty of sonic richness, with more bite in the bridge position and thicker sounds at the neck. The humbuckers are also wax-potted for feedback rejection, metering at 8.25k ohms. This Epiphone has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The five-piece maple/walnut neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and ideal heft, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .880” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features multi-ply binding and pearloid block inlay split by abalone triangles, and the medium jumbo fretwire is practically perfect, only exhibiting a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-2. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock features an Epiphone logo, “Tree of Life” inlay, and Gibson-branded truss rod cover. The gold tuning machines function reliably, and the back of the headstock retains the inked “Made in Korea” text and S-prefix serial. All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by independent pairs of Volume and Tone controls and a three-way pickup selector switch. The gold hardware exhibits uniform patina through the plating down to the bare nickel in a few locations, and plastics comprise the quartet of amber bonnet knobs and multi-ply bound transparent tortoise pickguard. The gloss Natural finish is framed by ambered binding with highlights subtle birdseye figuring in the maple, particularly on the back. This is a notably clean example, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a couple faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the back. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is immaculate. The original black tolex hardshell case with pink plush interior is included.
