The Pink Pussycat Theatre  was an accepted aspect of pop culture in what can be considered the “golden age of porn.” The theater opened in 1974, occupying a 1913-era space once known as the News View Theatre and later, the Ritz. As the Pussycat, the theater was decorated with crimson carpeting and chandeliers, and the owner even created custom in-house merchandise such as cups and popcorn tubs decorated with the Pussycat Bikini Girl with a logo reading “It's Cool Inside” in the container. There were T-shirts and matchbooks, too.
