Up for sale are these leather garters/leggings from World War I. These items were used by British soldiers during the war and are a great addition to any militaria collection.

The garters are 31cm long and were designed for personal gear use during the conflict. The width is and was adjustable thanks to a wraparound leather strap on each garter.

One garter has the full length 77cm strap which was designed to wind from the ankle up and around the calf and be fixed in place with a buckle. It also has a small 8cm long strap at the top that fitted into a second buckle.

The strap on the other garter, however,  has broken at some point and is only 27cm long. The split off piece is included in the sale - the tapered end of it that should go in the buckle is missing the part with the buckle holes. At the top of the garter, the small strap is missing -there is only a stub of one there. There is only one buckle rather than two.

The leather is still fairly flexible. It shows lots of wear.

Please do look closely at the photos so you can see the condition of the leather garters.

The garters are a great piece of history and would make a fantastic display item. These leather garters/leggings were most likely manufactured in the United Kingdom and are a must-have for any collector interested in World War I militaria.

They do not carry a maker's mark or stamp or the name or rank of their original owner.
