Colonial Federal Period Mahogany Tilt Top Tea/Side Table

Circa 1750-1795

Solid Single Plank Top

Entire piece is solid mahogany, no veneers

Breathtaking  figured mahogany top

The top is slightly cupped just as you would expect with an original single plank top, with age related shrinkage

Beautiful hand turned ring pedestal

Legs terminate in classic snake head feet

Original brass latch, works excellently

Oxidation under the top is superb

I restored this incredible table to full glory/museum quality. The tilt top latch was reset. The base for the top was restored to secure it to the pedestal. The gorgeous solid mahogany wood is showcased by my many coats of hand rubbed finish which achieved spectacular results

Outstanding tight & rich graining throughout this entire piece, likely the highly prized & virtually extinct Cuban Mahogany

Legs are dovetailed(known as sliding dovetails)into the pedestal

Iron brace at pedestal base

Excellent hand carved detailing at the bottom edge of the pedestal

Table stands solid true, the top is stable when in the vertical position. legs are rock solid

Gorgeous in any home or office

Sure to please the most discriminating clients
