Dynamo by Eugene O'Niell; 1929 HC/DJ First/First; Very Good ; Play

The dust jacket, now in a protective cover, has shelf wear, fading, discoloration, chipping, tearing, and some small missing pieces. Please see photos. The binding is tight and secure and square. The blue boards are shiny and clean except for a small rub on the front bottom and the front near the spine. This is visible in the photos. There spine edge has some minor rubbing to the titles and author name but all are still visible in gilt lettering. The decorative and free end pages have significant foxing but this has not extended the interior of the book which only displays some minor yellowing. There are binding threads showing in the direct center of the book. The spine acts as if the book is unread, but I can't be sure. The black header is still vibrant.

About the book:  1929. Generally agreed to be one of the most significant forces in the history of the American theater, O'Neill is a three-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize. His enormous output is in the tradition of realism established by Strindberg and Ibsen. His works introduced Americans to the techniques of the great European realists. Realism for Americans was a move away from the sentimental comedies, the pathetic dramas, and the melodrama that dominated the American stage from before the Civil War to World War I. Dynamo was expressionist in style and demonstrating his considerable range.
