This is a 1702 Silver Rupee of Emperor Aurangzeb of the Mogul Empire within a 12 ounce 24-Karat Gold Plated .999 Silver Proof Coin. This is a Taj Mahal Sunken Treasure piece recovered from the Great Basses Reef, Sri Lanka, in 1963 by the Diving Expedition of Arthur C. Clarke. The gold plated coin is 3.15 inches in diameter. The rupee is from the Surat Mint (India). The rupee is sealed within the larger silver coin and jiggles around, but is completely safe. There is a very small amount of toning on the gold plated coin along the rim. This coin comes in an original package inside a large thick wooden box with the Taj Mahal pictured on top. It comes with "The Taj Mahal Treasure" booklet and a "care" card. This is a very unique collectible piece!
