A beautiful sculptural yet minimal ceramic oil lamp, handmade by renowned Danish artist Aage Wurtz in the 1970s. This striking piece of studio pottery is covered in earthy tones. The top has a small hole for the metal wick holder, the wick holder sits snugly and securely within. The wick looks new and has not been used. It is possible that this little oil lamp has not been filled or used for its purpose at all. When the wick holder is removed, the oil lamp looks like a minimal vase, perfect for a single stemmed flower. The inscription on the underside of the oil lamp reads "Würtz 1204" and the original sticker can be found on the side of the vase, it reads "Würtz Studie".

Interestingly, Aage Wurtz now works with his son Jasper in their studio designing and creating minimalist, Nordic-inspired pieces, largely for the restaurant industry.
