Published in 1922 by Macmillan, this is a 1922 illustrated reprint of the classic Charles Kingsley fairytale: The Water-Babies: A Fairy Tale for a Land-Baby. In original red cloth with gilt lettering and pictorial cover art. Illustrated beautifully by Warwick Goble. Top edge gold stained.

Condition - FAIR. Binding is tight with firm hinges and joints but has heavily rubbed boards and some water dampening staining on the rear cover, rear endpapers and last few pages of the text. Front flyleaf has a gift inscription dated 1925 from an aunt to her niece as well as a beautiful passage from the poem “The Fairies Have Never A Penny To Spend” by Rose Fyleman. Some paper staining and age-toned pre- and post-text pages. The interior text itself is quite clean.

Please see pictures as they are an important part of the condition description.
