This 1872 Amazonian Quarter Dollar is a tribute round commemorating early US coinage.
William Barber’s Amazonian design has always been considered one of
the most beautiful and important patterns of the 19th century. The
Amazonian name dates to the 1890 New York Coin and Stamp auction of the
Lorin G. Parmelee collection and was probably given by David Proskey.
