This is an extremely fine Weimer Republic German Commemoration Panzer Assault Badge that remains in excellent condition. The badge is constructed of genuine silver and is of hollow construction with a silver soldered back plate. The seam where the front and back plate are joined around the edge of the badge is virtually invisible. There is a weep hole on the reverse at the top of the badge just below the upper pin hinge. The back plate is marked with the maker’s name, “C.E. Junker – Berlin” and has the half-moon logo, crown and “800” silver content number. The pin and catch assemblies are both present and remain fully functional. The badge displays crisp detail and exhibits the highest degree of quality and craftsmanship as was characteristic to the Juncker firm. The silver is with an attractive age toned patina and a beautiful overall appearance.

The Weimer Commemorative Panzer Badge was instituted on 13 July 1921 for award to tank crewmen who fought in the recently concluded World War. It was the first badge ever created for service in motorized track vehicles. Potential recipients had to apply to the Inspectorate of Motorized Troops to receive a certificate of qualification. The actual badge was available for private purchase by qualified crewmen who were required to present the certificate before the badge could be purchased. This is a very scarce and completely original Weimer Republic Commemorative Panzer Assault Badge that remains in excellent condition and displays beautifully.
