GEORGE RECTOR of Western North Carolina studio art pottery footed heavy bowl.

Measures about 9.5" in diameter by 3.5" deep.  Weighs over 4 lbs.  Elevated on four legs with speckled exterior matte orange peel brown, there are areas of raised black spotted glossy stripes, and a grayer smoother interior drips to the outside in one section.

Noted glaze cracks on the inside angle of each foot as shown in the last four pictures, and some scuffing on the foot edges.  No other defect or damage found.

The square signature stamp hides in the side striping.

"A member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild, George Rector is known for his salt/soda glazed wood-fired pottery influenced by the medieval folk pottery of the Orient and Northern Europe.   While often rustic in appearance these folk pots possess an unaffected elegance and dignity."
