Antique 1900 Art Deco Royal Doulton Charles Dana Gibson Girl Plate Blue Transfer Ware Earthenware Made in England.  Measures approx. 10 1/2" in diameter.  This plate is Titled  "MISS BABBLES THE AUTHORESS CALLS AND READS ALOUD" This is one in a series of 24 plates depicting the trials and tribulations of an attractive widow in the Gilded Age (Early 1900's,  plates production ranged from 1900 to 1915).  Designed by Charles Dana Gibson.  His original pen and ink drawings were titled  "The Widow and Her Friends" first published in Life Magazine and the artists own book in 1901.  The depicted scenes are titled expressing Gibsons dry sense of humor.  The "Gibson Girl" became synonymous with the ideal modern woman,  tall,  elegant and independent.  Series was made into a set of blue and white transfer ware earthenware plates by Royal Doulton, England,  made circa 1902-15
Very good antique used condition,  light crazing all over.
