This is a very nice gentleman's country cane; light wood with a silver head.

It was purchased in England in 1974; since 1975, it has been sitting in an umbrella stand.

The shaft is 37 1/2" long. It is a very light-weight wood, stained light brown; the stain has worn off significantly. The wood is in sections--10 7/8", 10 1/2", 10 1/2" and 5". Each of these sections has a thin crack.
The tip is a 1" piece that would have been banded with brass, but it is gone.

The silver head is 2" high and 1 3/8" across the top.
It is etched with a swirl design.
The top is worn smooth by the original owner's hand.

The hallmark is at the bottom of the silver head. It indicates London 1917.

This cane needs a little restoration work--a few hours in the care of a cabinetmaker and it will be a lovely piece.
