Presenting an original aircraft recognition silhouette poster featuring the French built Dassault Mirage 3 jet fighter-interceptor aircraft. Dated 1959 and marked Air Diagram 7083.

These military training posters were produced by the United Kingdom's Ministry of Supply and were distributed to The Admiralty, War Office and Air Ministry. They were used to improve aircraft identification skills, an objective formalised by the British Government as early as the 1920's and which later saw the creation of the Observer Corps, a civil defence organisation tasked with identiying, tracking and reporting aircraft over Great Britain. The significant contribution of whom to the The Battle of Britain in 1940 saw the organisation gain a royal title from King George VI.

The poster features three views of the aircraft; front, side and underneath. Clearly visible is the distinctive tail-less delta wing configuration, dart-like side profile and dual side air intakes.

In good condition, the poster has no tears or pin-holes. There are two horizontal folds extending across the piece and some ‘foxing’; small brown coloured spot marks. Please refer to photographs for more information. It has been framed in black with a TruVue Premium Clear acrylic front panel. To the rear is a D-ring anchored hanging wire and wall buffer pads. Framed size is approx 53cm (height) by 40cm (width).
