Presenting an original aircraft recognition silhouette poster featuring the Breguet 1050 Alizé, a French built carrier-based anti-submarine warfare aircraft. Dated 1961 and marked Air Diagram 7917.

These military training posters were produced by the United Kingdom's Ministry of Aviation and were distributed to The Admiralty, War Office and Air Ministry. They were used to improve aircraft identification skills, an objective formalised by the British Government as early as the 1920's and which later saw the creation of the Observer Corps, a civil defence organisation tasked with identiying, tracking and reporting aircraft over Great Britain. The significant contribution of whom to the The Battle of Britain in 1940 saw the organisation gain a royal title from King George VI.

The poster features three views of the aircraft; front, side and underneath. Clearly visible is the distinctive retractable antenna dome in the belly and underneath, the rear arresting hook. With a crew of three, the Alizé could carry torpedoes and depth-charges in an internal weapons bay, and bombs, rockets or missiles on under-wing pylons. It was powered by a single Rolls-Royce Dart turboprop.

In good condition, the poster has one horizontal fold to the centre and minor foxing and other small marks. Please refer to photographs. It has been framed in black with a TruVue Premium Clear acrylic front panel. To the rear is a D-ring anchored hanging wire and wall buffer pads. Framed size is 52cm (height) by 40cm (width).
