St. Marie Precoce (C-16 = Severnyi x v.riparia) bred in Saskatchewan 2007 and named in Finland 2018, genetics 50% vitis riparia, 25% vitis vinifera, 25% vitis amurensis. It is super hardy to at least -45° C and does not need any winter cover. It is very vigorous with small to medium size dark blue berries in loose, medium size clusters.

St. Marie Precoce has very good fruit quality characteristics such as neutral flavors (low herbaceousness), moderate acidity and high sugar (average 23° brix). The vine itself has many desirable agronomic characteristics, such as high disease resistance. It is super early and ripen its fruit in 700 GDD (base of 10°C).

It has "Precose de Malingre" in its background which is a super-early ripening vitis vinifera, this vine is also the ancestor of the most notably early-ripening viniferas like Madelaine Angevine, Siegerrebe, Ortega, Perle de Csaba and Agria.

St. Marie Precoce is a female variety, so it requires another variety nearby for pollination. This variety is also an excellent breeding parent for cold hardy new crossings.
