They don't make lights like this anymore, and a light like this one is a rare find, the sort of light you'd expect to see in a grand home such as the Biltmore. This chandelier was made between 1890 and 1910 when the electric grid wasn't reliable and people were skeptical of electric lighting—some lights had both gas and electric lights, as this one did. The 4 upturned candelabras were gas and were converted to electric at some point in time. Under the impressive slag glass canopy you find 4 standard E12 sockets. 8 lights total.

This is an authentic, original arts and crafts light. Believe it is all original except for three chain link, the wiring and the four antiqued candelabra covers and candelabra sockets. The finish is 100% original—no repainting or touching up. Even the fringe along the base is original and isn't rotten. The fringe was optional BITD and is easily removed if you like. (We prefer it with the fringe.)

The four green glass panels are in outstanding condition, with no cracks. This glass is stunning with dramatic swirls and high-contrast areas.

Unique to this light is the center chain mechanism which slides up a vertical pipe—most lights of this style simply have the chain anchored to the pipe.

The vertical stem may be removed for shipping. Assembly is simple.
