This a fine British Victorian buff leather bayonet frog that is in excellent condition. It is constructed of white buff leather with all brass rivets, stitching, and stud retaining strap and brass buckle completely intact. The leather remains pliable and undamaged. The reverse is with unit designation marks in faint black ink, ‘393, 382, 438 F’. This type of bayonet frog saw service in the Empire from the Crimean War, through to the Indian Mutiny, the wars in Zululand and Afghanistan, and up to the Sudan and Boer Wars. A fine-looking example in excellent, undamaged condition.
