Sidney resided in Dunston on Tyne, Durham. He joined the 1/9th Battalion Durham Light Infantry number 2882 before being transferred to the 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment. He entered France on the 27th June 1915. On the 4th March 1917 the battalion went into action attacking German positions East of Bouchevesnes. I have included the war diary for the attack. There were 5 Officers killed 4 wounded and 1 missing Other ranks 44 killed 158 wounded and 11 missing. I would say this is the action where Sidney was wounded and would sadly die of those wounds on the 6th March 1917.

Included is Sidneys Medal Index Card, Soldier Effect, Medal Roll, 1901 and 1911 Census, Forces War Record, Pension Card, War Diary and other information.
