Up for sale, a 1976 Fender Telecaster in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtags and case candy. 100% original save for a replacement bone nut, this Telecaster boasts an ash body with particularly uncommon, dynamic grain across the back, paired with a one-piece maple neck. Acoustically, the guitar has a smooth, snappy tone with a nice midrange kick that’s present yet not too pronounced. The original single coils offer an array of classic Tele tonalities, with a biting, clear bridge pickup that equal parts chewy twang, complex midrange, and taut, sinewy low end. The neck pickup has a smooth, rich sound that's still sparkling and clear. Weighing 9lbs 15oz, this Telecaster has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders and faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .930" at the 12th. The maple fretboard has lightly rolled edges, a 7 1/4" radius, and original medium fretwire which has its full factory height and well-rounded crowns. The frets show virtually no wear, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale, and the neck is straight with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The modern bone nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock is fitted with the original Fender F tuners with bright chrome plating. The 76-prefix serial number is present on the headstock face, and the neck heel and pocket have a bevy of factory stamps, including a bold green inked stamp on the neck heel, dating to '76.

The electronics are 100% original, with untouched solder joints and CTS pots that date to the 9th week of '76. The neck pickup has a black bobbin, while the bridge pickup is a gray bobbin variety with brass baseplate and staggered alnico poles. There is one small, cleanly repaired split in the ash between the neck pocket and neck pickup cavity. Hardware includes a bridge with bright plating on the base and barrel saddles, as well as a clean control plate and pair of flat-topped knurled knobs. There is some requisite light pick scuffing across the three-ply black pickguard.

The Butterscotch gloss finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, highlighting the extremely dynamic and unusual grain in the ash across the back. Extremely well-kept, cosmetic wear is limited to a few minor marks on the edges of the slab body and handful of light finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included and extremely clean with black leather ends, functional latches, the original handle, and raised Fender logo on the lid. The original ashtray bridge cover, inspection tag, manual with matching serialized sticker and Fender polish cloth are present too.
