Up for sale, a 1967 Guyatone HG-108C 8-string console steel in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and telescoping legs. This Japanese 8-string steel is notable for its pair of highly sought after gold foil pickups, finished in a rare custom color gloss Red Metallic.

There’s plenty of natural sustain and chime on tap, qualities faithfully captured by the pair of gold foil pickups. Metering at 4.9k ohms (neck) and 6.6k ohms (bridge), these pickups deliver the clarity, percussive cut and smoothness inherent to the gold foil design. This Guyatone has been freshly restrung with 14-54 roundwound strings.

The scale length measures 22 3/4“, and string spacing measures 2 1/2“ at the nut and 2 11/16” at the bridge. The plexi playing surface features Guyatone “G” logo position markers, and the original tuning machines turn smoothly, with white rectangular buttons.

The gold foil pickups are governed by a pair of On/Off switches and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The Volume pot is a 500K Cosmos replacement, and the Tone pot is original. The chrome-plated hardware is positively gleaming, and the Guyatone badge at the treble-side waist is intact.

The gloss Red Metallic finish has a diffused burnt sierra hue due, and cosmetic wear limited to a couple minor chips along the perimeter (with one scuff adjacent to the output jack), and a scant few tiny dings on the base.

The original hardshell case is included, with the original latches and handle intact, along with the original telescoping legs, which seat cleanly into the flanges and have clean chrome plating in their own right. A slide, cable, and set of finger picks are also included.
