True first edition of this classic western / Americana fiction novel, the second published by the acclaimed author. The basis for the film of the same name. First edition identified by code “H-N” on copyright page and original price of $4.50 on front liner flap - a rarity as the publisher decided last minute to change the price pre-release, with most copies price clipped. This copy has a bit of discoloration from price change sticker over original price on that liner flap. Bottom corner of front flapped clipped, however. Small tear to top left corner of back cover. Jacket with some mild rubbing to faces and slight shelf wear around the edges - including some chipping, small creases and tears. Boards straight and clean but with corners mildly bumped. Binding is firm and spine is straight. All pages clean and unmarked. See photos.
