This is an important three-seater sofa, designed by renowned architect and furniture designer Warren Platner. The piece was part of a series that Platner designed in the mid-70s for CI Designs, a Boston-based firm that was a licensed manufacturer of Platner’s works. This particular sofa came to us from an architect’s estate that contained dozens of other CI Design pieces, including prototypes. The design features a frame of solid oak, and it retains its original chocolate brown leather upholstery. It is truly a one-of-a-kind piece and represents a time in Platner’s storied career that is often overlooked.

This sofa measures 30.75 inches long, 90 inches wide, and 30 inches high. The oak frame is in nice condition with some light scratches and scuffs, and the wood has developed a warm patina. The brown leather is also in good condition, having been freshly conditioned. There is some fading along the front of the cushions and there is evidence of use in the middle of the seat. The cushions do have some crunchiness around the edges, and the seat has hardened a bit. We feel that replacing the seat’s foam would be a worthwhile endeavor. Overall, this sofa is in good to very good vintage condition with some age and wear apparent. Please see photos.
