This Lot contains 4 metal toy soldiers, 2 in advancing pose, one in firing pose and an officer pose. They are painted up as a Highland Regiment possibly from WWII as the commander carries binoculars. The soldiers all wear the “Glengarry” fatigue cap.

These figures are interesting for a few reasons: first, they were produced in post-WWII Japan in an effort to re-tool and rebuild the Japanese War production to peacetime production. Interestingly, this included metal toy soldier production that was very close to todays 25-28mm miniatures. (See pictures)

Second, they were less costly than European and American toy soldiers, and one could see these easily turning a from a few sets into larger units of soldiers.

All are stamped “Japan” on the bottom.

I’m hoping that you will agree with Toy Soldier Collector/Author Richard O’Brien when he says of these exports “these have loyal collector support and can be of considerable interest.” (Collecting Foreign Made Toy Soldiers, 1997).
