RARE Sunbeam Motion Picture Co EPHEMERA LOT 1916 Stock Certificate Movie Ty Cobb

Sunbeam Motion Picture Corporation released two movies during its heady career and they sold about $250k in stock to make it happen.

In 1916 they raised money to make the first film to ever star a baseball player, Mr. Ty Cobb and released Somewhere in Georgia in 1917.

Ty Cobb was paid $25,000 for his role in the film. These folks invested $70 in the film and I feel pretty safe in saying they didn’t ever see any of that again.

Original stock certificate for 14 shares of stock in Sunbeam Motion Picture Corporation at $5 per share. Signed by the company president and secretary and dated May 1916. Gold foil sticker at the bottom.

More rare is the inclusion of the original mailing envelope with same addressees as certificate. Cleveland Ohio address with stamps and postmarks.

Has been stored in envelope for over a hundred years and is creased. I would assume these would flatten out when framed.
